Virginia Center for the Book will feature its Raucous auction as both an online silent auction and a live event this year. Book lovers can bid on unique prints, books, experiences and items until Wednesday.

The masked ball will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the new Lemon Lounge of Virginia Humanities headquarters at 946 Grady Ave. There will be appetizers from A Pimento Catering and Old Tom gin for cocktails from Spirit Lab Distilling. Fred shackleford will be the guest author when the Friends of the Fluvanna County Library meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fluvanna County Library.

Shackleford, a lawyer, wrote “The Ticket,” which is the story of a frenzied search for a winning lottery ticket and the original characters encountered along the way. He will be present after the presentation for a question-and-answer period. Visitors can buy books and have them signed.

Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will present a virtual discussion of “Maid” by Stephanie Land at 7:00 pm Thursday.
